Pre-Raphaelite Project Funding

The Pre-Raphaelite Society is delighted to announce that it will be offering funding for a project related to Pre-Raphaelite studies. The aim of the Society is to encourage the study of the works and lives of, and promote the wider appreciation of, the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and their successors, and we are offering up to £1,000 for a project that meets these aims.

This is open to anyone over the age of 18 resident in the UK. The applicant does not need to be a member of the PRS, and all applications will be considered on their merits. The funding is not for research time or travel.

Proposed projects will need to be carried out within a year from award of the funding, and the project’s outcome will need to be publicly available. For example:

  • An exhibition

  • An event

  • A website

We are excited to see what creative and original projects might be proposed. The recipient of the funding will be invited to give a lecture to the Society on their project, and to contribute an essay to the Review.

We hope that this funding will provide an individual (or group of individuals) the opportunity to develop a creative and exciting way to explore Pre-Raphaelitism and to share knowledge about it with others. If you would like to discuss this further, please contact the Society’s Chair, Dr Serena Trowbridge, at serena.trowbridge@bcu.ac.uk

Your application will need to be fully costed, and we will not be able to exceed the limit of £1,000. The form for submissions asks for information about the project and its benefits. Please return this form along with a CV to Dr Trowbridge at the email address above.

Notes:

  • This funding may be used as part-funding for a project which is part-funded by another method.

  • The funding is only available for new projects, not for a project already underway.

  • It is open to any residents of the UK over the age of 18, excluding members of the PRS Committee.

  • Decisions regarding allocating the funding will be made by the Committee of the PRS.

  • Only one project will be funded.

  • The project must focus on the Pre-Raphaelites and their close affiliates, whether one or more relevant figures.

  • Applications must be submitted by 18th August 2023 to: serena.trowbridge@bcu.ac.uk
