AGM and Founder's Day Lecture

Our Annual General Meeting will be followed by the Founder's Day Lecture which will be delivered by Dr. Carol Jacobi.

Lecture Title: Pre-Raphaelite! Showing and Telling 1848-2028.

In 2021, the new Museum of Art Pudong, Shanghai, launched with a 300m2 display featuring on work 'Ophelia'. This lecture reflects on the ways we show and see the art of men and women in the Pre-Raphaelite circle. Their first infamous intrusion into the crowded walls of the Royal Academy quickly turned into triumphant tours of single works, like blockbuster movies. We focus on the surprising story of Pre-Raphaelite displays at Tate, how they have exposed, obscured, responded to dramatic social change, and consider questions for the future.

Dr. Carol Jacobi is Curator of British Art 1850-1915 at Tate Britain. She has published widely on Pre-Raphaelitism and curated both the permanent displays at Tate and many exhibitions on the group around the world.
